Unit 1 - Making relevant connections within the number system
In this unit students will be expected to ● Show quantities using + or – and having opposite directions or values ● Find points on a number line to show distance and direction ● Identify opposite signs of numbers to indicate locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line ● Identify the opposite of an opposite is the number itself ● Describe the absolute value of a rational number is its distance from 0 on the number line ● Locate coordinates and compare on a coordinate grid using negative and positive rational numbers ● Use order of operations with rational numbers Learning Targets 7.NR.1.1 Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Describe situations in which opposite quantities combine to make 0.
IXL UNIT MODULES
Textbook Modules and Lessons Module 3- Lesson 1: Add Integers Students will explain the rules for adding integers based on the integers' signs, using the terms positive, negative, opposite, additive inverses, and additive inverse property. Module 3 -Lesson 2: Subtracting Integers Students will explain the process for subtracting integers based on the integers' signs, using the terms positive, negative, and absolute value. Module 3 -Lesson 3: Multiplying Integers Students will explain how to predict the sign of the product of a multiplication problem with integers, using the terms positive, negative, sometimes, always, and never. Module 3 -Lesson 4: Divide Integers Students will explain how to predict the sign of the quotient of a division problem with integers, using the terms positive, negative, divisor, dividend, and quotient. Module 3 -Lesson 5: Apply Integer Operations Students will solve problems by applying all operations to integers. Module 4 -Lesson 1: Rational Numbers Students will identify terminating and repeating decimals, and use long division to convert rational numbers to decimals. Module 4 -Lesson 2: Add Rational Numbers Students will demonstrate application of the additive inverse, and an understanding of addition of rational numbers. Module 4 -Lesson 3: Subtract Rational Numbers Students will demonstrate understanding of subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse and apply it to solving real-world problems. Module 4 -Lesson 4: Multiply Rational Numbers Students will apply understanding of multiplication to rational numbers, and use the order of operations to solve real-world problems. Module 4 -Lesson 5: Divide Rational Numbers Students will apply understanding of division to rational numbers, and use the order of operations to solve real-world problems. Module 4 -Lesson 6: Apply Rational Number Operations Students will apply understanding of the four operations with rational numbers to evaluate mathematical expressions. |
